Farhat Ahmed Shamsi B.A Psychology, B.S. HRM, B.A. Islamic Studies, Diploma Quran Tafseer & Classical Arabic, Candidate Graduate Certificate Islamic Studies, Creator & Supervisor ICET-P Program
Ustadha Farhat Ahmed Shamsi’s awareness of deep human psychology discussions in the Quran, and subsequent research in undergraduate Islamic studies, regarding the role of the heart in mental processes led her to discover secular psychology topics such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Her assertion is that the entire Quran is essentially cognitive behavioral therapy. Her research into the rich history of Islamic psychology inspired her to put together the tools of CBT from secular psychology with narratives from the Quran. It resulted in the development of a new discipline: Islamic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in conjunction with professional therapists. The Quran&Soul Institute offers ICET based courses for individuals to learn and practice mindfulness and positive emotional output. The Institute offers the first Islamic Spiritual Coach Certification Program. Click here to read more.
